Resume Help

So I am trying to get my first job that has to do with my major(psychology), I am facing a few problems writing my first resume. I am using the MS Word resume template creator, if there is a better way please let me know. 🙂

1. I want to do I skill based resume because the only jobs I have worked are farm jobs during the summer and this job is at a mental care facility.

2. The job is a Mental Health Group Home Staff worker, what should I put as my objective? How should I list my skills? e.g. basic word processing, excel, basic understanding of mental disorders and behaviors.

3. It also asks for a summary of qualifications, my degree is in progress, this being my second year. The job doesn't require anything besides a basic HS diploma, I am mainly just looking for way to set me apart from the others.

Thanks for any help 🙂

Put your education last since it isn't completed yet. Focus on your skills, like you say.

Yeah, I am just looking for the best way to phrase them I guess, I don't really know how to go about that.

Since it's your first job, I would keep everything on one page. Put everything you think might apply in it, then edit it down to the proper size. Presentation counts as much as content.

Should I phrase things from a first person perpsective? Like saying, "I have a basic understanding of general mental disorders, along with experience in dealing unusual behavior."

Does that sound right?

take the microsoft word template for resume and make it yours. customize it and make it unique. you have no idea how many people's resumes use the same damn microsoft template.
