Qualifying turned out quite a bit different.

Alas, no F1 TV coverage for most people in the US this year, unless you're lucky enough to be able to get SpeedVision. Bernie E. can blow me ...

Damn, the ferraris looked good out there. i just hope the Macs are holding something back for better reliability or this season could get boring in a hurry. I actually think the battle for best of the rest is the interesting bit to watch. Jordan outperforms BAR and Williams is looking good too. Should be a good race.

Uhhh, looks like the same 3 guys at the front again to start off this year. What is it with ex Cart guys and F1 anyway?? I hope Montoya dosent suck like Zanardi, leaving people to question AGAIN the quality of drivers coming from Cart!

Its true that Zanardi has tarnished the reputation of CART champs... but Villeneuve probably raised expectations too high. I'm sure Montoya is a good driver and will do well in F1. But it takes time for a new driver to learn and adapt so i'm not expecting him to dominate... especially in the Williams. If he can keep up with Ralf, it will be a success for him this year.

LordMaul "*has no idea what that is all about*"

Autoracing - specifically Indy-style, if I read the names correctly. Giving the lineup for the race after the qualifying runs - actual race is tomorrow, I think?!?

I'm more into NASCAR and NHRA, because we have locals who race those circuits and plenty of tracks to watch it at (especially NHRA as well as outlaws and funnycars).

I tend to watch it more on TV (because of the decibel levels), though husband and son-&-heir will go to the tracks if they have the opportunity.

And yes, I saw the end of Daytona... :(

LadyNiniane... Its Formula 1. Season kicked off this weekend.

Unfortunately, looks like its gonna be the same 2 teams blowing the rest of the field away... again.

Well...I had all but given up on this thread. I thought there were more people into F1 than this \

Although I'm not a Schummi fan I must admit he was absolutely faultless in qualifying. A class apart from the rest. Of course Qualifying is one thing and racing is another . It does give an indication of how much Ferrari has sorted out their car before the start of the season. The times were over 3 seconds faster than last year. So much for Mosely's plans to slow the cars down. They should take the same direction as Nascar by crippling the aero dynamics and boosting horespower, although there's not much need for boosting the typical F1 powerplant. What they need to do is get back to mechanical grip rather than aero dynamic grip. Did anybody notice the little winglets all the cars seem to be sporting on each side of the air intakes behind the drivers head?
