I do not have access to another motherboard or CPU to test wich one. The computer powers up but does not display anything on the screen. The Epox 8kha+ onboard diagnostic LED reads "FF", which if I'm not mistaken is what it has always read when working.

So the dilemna is do I buy a mb and hope thats what it is or a cpu. I am looking for a cost saving answer since the speed and performance of the system has been adequate.

Thanks

Also I have tried different power supplies so I don't believe its that.

Ok received a new Motherboard and it did not fix the problem.

Will a motherboard send a signal to a monitor if the CPU is not working?? I'm guessing not but I could be wrong.

Also I have a tried a couple of different power supplies I admitt they are all generic pieces that probably max out at lower levels but the only thing I am trying to boot right now is a video card, cpu, and motherboard. A pile for a power supply should boot that right??

Ummm.. Ram needs to be in there too. Did you just forget to list it in your sentance?

If the cpu is bad, usually one gets a beep warning message. Does your mobo have a builtin speaker? If not hook it up to the case speaker and see if you get any beep messages/warnings

A pile for a power supply should boot that right??

Sorry, not sure what you're trying to say here?

Did you take the mobo out of the case to ensure there is no shorting? If not remove it and lay it on a phone book or something similar and try to post with CPU (needs HS+F too), ram and vid card.

Make sure the CPU HS fan is plugged into the right header on the mobo. Otherwise the mobo might refuse to POST as a measure to protect the CPU from overheating.
