Restricting access to shared folders?

Here's a fairly simple question -
I have a small home network here, with 5 PCs on it. I want to share files with only one pc - the rest should not be able to see or access the shared folders. I assume there's a way to do this - running XP Pro sp1 - but I don't know how and would really like to know what I'm doing before messing around with settings :)

Hi,

Presuming your filesystem is NTFS (it probably is and almost surely should be if it isn't) - you need to play with share and NTFS permissions to control how users can access shared folders.

http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_filesharing/07ntfs-permisions.htm

is a quick google find looking at NTFS permissions. There are links of that page to other aspects of controling how resources are shared.

Good luck,

Andy
