Ok..

So I'm playing around with Ubuntu Gnome Edition and it looks pretty nice.

I'm not sure if I'm ready to drop the ease of Mint for it, but I'm itching to try something new.

I noticed that it does not have its own "restricted extras" in a nice meta package the way that other distros of Ubuntu have...

So my question is...

What all do I need to install to make my machine the beast that it is now with fonts, codecs, java, flash, etc...

Is there an easy list somewhere?

On the later versions of Ubuntu, you can get the restricted extras through the Ubuntu software center (looks like a shopping bag icon on the dash on the left side of the screen).

I'm quite familiar with the software center... Even though I like to use the terminal and apt when I can... I feel like I learn more that way...

There is no restricted extras meta package for the gnome edition.

Yes.

But I'm not using any of those variants.

I'm using the newer Gnome Edition. It is basically ubuntu with a pure Gnome DE rather than unity. That edition does not yet have the restricted extras. My "guess" is that the normal ubuntu one might work... but it isn't available in the repos...

So what I'm looking for is a list of the main components of the restricted extras. I have no problem installing them myself, but I just need a list...

I'm sure I will figure it out.

I was able to enable multiverse and install the regular ubuntu restricted extras.

I don't see any reason (so far) why it wouldn't work.

It will probable work fine as Unity is just a fork of Gnome IIRC. I forgot to mention the multiverse repo.
