Restorting transparent icons in XP

I somehow turned off the transpartent icon backgrounds off in XP. How do I turn them back on? Is there some check box i missed or a way to restore defults?

Don't you need 3rd party software for that?

 

[Doh!]

Control Panel->System->Advanced->Performance->Visual Effects tab: you can check "....for best appearance" box. If you don't want the whole options to be turned on, I think on two boxes: "use dropshadows..." and maybe "use visual styles..."
