ok, here's the problem. initially, my win2000 has a bit of problem, one thing is that one of the svchost.exe create an error which cause win2000 to shut it down. after discussing with friend, he told me to use the win2000 cd to try and repair it. so i popped in the cd but i guess i did not read the options carefully, i chose "upgrade to win2000" option. so back then i'm running on win2000 but upgrade again to win2000!!! now whenever i start up the comp, it prompt me to choose which OS i want to launch, even though both options are win2000!!
anyway, upon loading into windows, i lost all my previous desktop setting. i access my documents folders from desktop but all i get is empty folder. i tried accessing from harddrive in documents and settings folder, in it there is administrator and all users, i choose administrator and true enough, all my previous files are there. in the program files folders, all my installed programs exists, but when i look it up from the taskbar, none!!!
so all i want to know is, is there anyway i can restore to the previous desktop setting?? or i'm doomed and have to do a reformat and clean installation of window.

You can copy the Administrator Profile with your previous
settings to another account.

First, setup another user with admin priveleges.
Login with that account.

Right-click My Computer\Properties
select the User Profiles tab.
In the Profiles Stored on the Computer dialog box, click
the User Profile you want to copy (ex. Administrator)
then click the Copy To button.

Click the "Browse" button to select the path for the new profile.

Then do the following:

Click the Plus (+) next to C:\.

Click the Plus (+) next to Documents and Settings.
Select the User Profile you want to copy to. Click OK.
A "Copy to window" will open. Select the destination. Click OK.
A Confirm Copy window will open. Click Yes.

Log off and Log in as the other user.
