Restoring System Image in Win7- USB 3.0 drivers not loaded?

I'm extremely confused and frustrated. I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on a Dell Latitude 6430u (ultrabook). I have been conscientious about doing weekly backups of data AND monthly System Image copies to an external USB 3.0 drive. I need to restore to the System Image but when I attempt to do so from the Windows Recovery Panel, it can't find my external drive.

A similar conversation (HERE) indicates that the problem is because Windows doesn't load USB 3.0 drivers automatically. I've tried to figure out how to fix this (including downloading the driver from Intel, only to have it error out near the end of installation), with no luck.

Can anyone help me, PLEASE!?!? =) Thank you in advance. I will be very appreciative of any help!

You are correct. Since USB 3.0 controllers didn't really show up on boards until after Windows 7 was released, the drivers for them are not going to show up by default (remember using a floppy to load drivers for XP?).

Here is another link that may be of better assistance for you:

Thank you for your response and for link! According to link, I need to "Load the "USB 3.0 Host Controller and Hub drivers". The files indicated are-

nusb3hub.inf
nusb3xhc.inf

Do you know where and how I find and enable/load these?

Thanks again!

Not sure if you are using built in windows recovery or if you are using a product such as Aronis TruImage .. if you are using TruImage, it gives a way to create a Recovery Disc or USB Drive, You then load your image from that. It is always better for the image to be created or restored when windows itself is not running.
