Restoring color on faded jeans?

I know that there's a technique to do this . . . if I remember correctly, it was some (lightly) corrosive stuff and you dip it in . . ..

Any help, oh gurus of ATOT?

just buy some new freakin' jeans....

This requires something called MONEY. Unfortunately, that's just something I don't have at the moment - would you buy me a pair of jeans then?

I've heard of making something out of nothing but I doubt even MacGyver could put color back in a pair of jeans.

Gee do you think that soaking them in blue dye from the supermarket would work, Duh

Dye would be a terrible idea. You won't find anything the matches the color close enough, the process will be very messy and take forever, and even if you could find a matching color that wouldn't result in an awkward mess, you'd have to apply it perfectly so as not to dye the contrast stitching and make that look screwed up as well.

Just deal with the pants they way they are or buy new jeans. In the future, wash jeans sparingly and use cold water on the occasions when you do. If you're really anal about it, then hand-wash the jeans, because machine washing is very hard on them. Jeans will fade whether you like it or not.

RIT sells an indigo dye for that purpose

RIT?

Anyhoo, that's what my roommate did - that's why I was asking, honstly.

I could've sworn that some list of trivia facts said to dip it in something (coke? Vinegar?) to restore the color - eh . . ..
