I've got my late grandfather's old Zippo lighter from 1990. It says solid brass and it's pretty tarnished. I'm going to send the inside portion back to Zippo for some repair (lifetime warranty, i believe) and try to restore the outside. I've never restored anything brass before. Any hints on getting the lighter in good condition again?

I think Zippo will do the outside also if you send it in to them. I know they used to. I sent them a couple in the 80s and they reconditioned them for free.

oh cool.....i thought i had read on their site to send in just the inner stuff. it'd be cool if they did the exterior as well.

Go buy a can of Brasso, and use some old rags and go to town. You'll polish it right up. :)
