Restoring Administrator Permissions

If someone removed all permissions to access a directory for the main Administrator account on WinXP Pro, how would those permissions be restored?

Thanks for any help, I thought it would be best to ask a forum before up and reinstalling the whole OS, which was the only other thing I could think of, and I'm not even certain it would work. I can't believe Windows will actually allow that in the first place.

Log on as Local Administrator.
Take Ownership of the folder.
Set the Security Permissions to match other, similar, folders. Typically, those include rights for Administrator, Creator Owner, and System.

Thank you guys so much. I was completely lost and I must of searched the microsoft support site for sometime with no trace of a resolution. Sometimes it seems like you have to know the solution to a problem before you're able to find it in their knowledge base.

Thank you again.
