So I have my main computer, which has Windows 7 currently installed, and it's on an older-type SSD drive. I have just purchased a new OCZ Vertex 2 SSD drive. I would like to use the "RESTORE" feature from my Windows Home Server, which backs up my main PC weekly.

My question is that the new SSD drive is fresh, never been used or formatted. When Windows 7 installs, from my Windows 7 DVD, it takes care of properly formating and partitioning the drive to best suit SSD drives.

My question is that if I simply replace my SSD with the new one, and then use the restore feature from my Windows Home Server, will it properly align and partition, etc., my new SSD drive, apart from restoring my original OS and apps?

Yes it should work HOWEVER from everything I've read, you should not restore an image on SSD. Now usually that advice is for people with regular HD's who image then restore to a new SSD. I think it has to do with alignment issues. I don't know about SSD to SSD. I am curious to know if you find an answer on this because I am a huge WHS user and would love to know that the backups of my SSD OS drive will be useful in the future.
