Restore image to M.2 SSD

Has anyone successfully made a backup image of their OS drive and tried to restore it to an M.2 SSD? I am using Acronis TI 2015.

Thanks.

What exact issue are you having? There are 3 variants of M.2. Two of them should be very familiar.

I keep a clone of my SSD on an external HDD. Here's my procedure using Acronis TI 2015:

1. I create Acronis bootable media on a thumb drive.
2. I connect the external HDD to my laptop via USB.
3. I boot to the Acronis created thumb drive.
4. It sees my SSD and the external HDD.
5. I select the Clone option.
6. Source drive is the SSD. Target is the HDD.
7. Select manual
8. Select proportional cloning (drives are different size.)
9. Proceed and shutdown when complete. Disconnect or power down external HDD.

Takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete. To restore the SSD, I have done it. Just use the same procedure only make the HDD the source and the SSD the target.

I see no reason why this process will not work with any M drive SSD.

The issue that I'm having is Acronis TI 2015 doesn't allow me to clone to the M2 SSD because it is grayed out. I am using a Plextor M6e 128 GB M.2 SSD

Was the version of Acronis free (or included download with HDD/SSD purchase) or paid? I noticed that recently newer included downloads only allow cloning one way. Usually from a competitors drive to their drive.

Not to avoid answering you, but this would be an excellent question to bring up with Acronis, since you have the paid version of the most recent program they offer. I would think, logically, that it should support what you are trying to do.
