Gotta restock the bar, house party this weekend :)

I have about 150 bucks for the 'hard stuff'.... gonna have a keg for the beer.

If you had to restock a bar, and had 150 bucks, and wanted to be able to make the most amount of drinks and what not, what would stock it with?

If a particular brand for a particular type of booze, why that brand?

:)

and where the hell can you buy shot glasses from? I wanna buy like a set of 6 or 12... not singular novelty ones. Walmart maybe?

Vodka - (Mohawk's the cheapest I've found that doesn't taste like pure rubbing alcohol)
Whiskey - ??
Gin - ??

I would go with those three. As far as shot glasses, Wally World should have them, but if not check out a Department Store in your area that sells China/Silverware/Glasses. Ask a woman, they'll know what stores sell that kind of stuff.

Get decent gin -- cheap gin is horrible. Get some Beefeater, or if you can afford it Bombay Sapphire.

If you're going to have 2 bottles of vodka, get 1 good, 1 bad. The bad stuff can be a mixer when the vodka isn't the noticible flavor. For vodka martinis, etc. use the good stuff. I don't mind Stoli for the good stuff and <insert supermarket name>-brand for the crap.

Rum is always good -- and I prefer the light over the dark. I prefer Malibu, but a lot of people prefer Bacardi or Parrot Bay or even Cptn. Morgans.

I also recommend Southern Comfort and Midori -- they make for good, happy times.

Get a nice handle of Bacardi Select for your Rum selection. Usually runs me about 20 bucks and can't be beat.

Don't waste the money on top-notch boozes if you're going to waste them in strong mixes. For instance, while Bombay Sapphire is easily one of the best gins I know, it seems a waste to mix it with tonic when beefeater and seagram's are so much cheaper but still not that bad in a mix. BUt whoever said it before--for martinis and other non-diluted drinks, get half decent stuff.

Don't use Tanqueray Vodka in bloody mary and such.....I'm all for the get some cheap stuff for mixes and some good stuff for drinks that are straighter.....Johnnie Walker Red makes a find scotch and soda. But if I catch you mixing a fine aged single-malt with soda or *cough* SOUR MIX, I'll come beat you myself :)

If you want to make the MOST drinks possible, you have to go with the half-gallon plastic jugs of vodka or rum and mix them up in a big batch of punch or juice of some sort. However, this type of alcohol is NOT GOOD for shooting or mixing drinks where you can actually taste the flavor of the alcohol. Still, most girls have no problems drinking this in my experience if the punch masks the vodka well enough.
Plus, with 150 people you will appreciate people being able to just get cups of this, it's much faster than mixing tons of individual drinks.

Maybe buy some of the cheap stuff and make a tub of jungle juice, and for shooting buy some bottles of mid-range tequila, rum, vodka, and maybe some whiskey or what have you.
With hard liquor, you usually get what you pay for taste-wise.

Bicardi 151 - takes care of most of the hardcore peeps
Bicardi Light Rum - Good Mixer for margs, daqs
Cuervo Gold - gotta have tequila
Skyy Vodka - Gotta have vodka
Crown Royal - gotta have whiskey for shots
either Seagrams 7 or Southern Comfort - good mixer whiskeys
Johnny Walker Black Label - for when you have some snooty scotch drinkers over
and
Big ass keg of beer....

How about the snooty Cognac people? You're not only gonna need expensive cognac for them, you're also gonna need expensive heavy crystal glasses, nice cigars, nice butane lighters, and a nice (silver) cigar cutter.

You musn't forget to allocate some $$ for the mixers you must purchase. OJ, grenadine, sour mix, Coke, triple sec.... the basics.

The main hard alcohol you NEED is plenty of vodka (used in many drinks, get like 2 handles)..... you can go cheap here since many drink mixes drown out the taste of it anyhow (there are MANY brands of handles you can get for like $12).
Definitely get some rum (Captain Morgan or Bacardi).
And you need to buy a bottle of Jack Daniels. Just a staple.... great for Jack 'n' Cokes, whiskey sours.
I'd also get some cheap tequila, some Goldschlager, and some Green Apple Pucker.
Make sure you get some wine and some Mike's Hard Lemonade / Smirnoff Ices to round out the collection.

Never forget a keg.

Did someone say scotch!? Bleh. It's like drinking gasoline. :disgust:

And I second the motion for some jungle juice. Get one of those 5 gallon water jugs and make it in there -- it'll last a long while, hopefully.

do this - like people suggested make a big thing of jungle juice. Get 2 - 1/2 gallon jugs of Aristocrat for vodka mixers. 1/2 gallon of Seagram's Gin. and 1/2 gallon of cheap spiced Rum. If you have money left over after buying mixers, get yourself some stuff you and close friends like and hide em to make drinks for yourself. No reason to waste good liqour on the masses.

If you want a really good drink, try making our Dank Punch.

Buy an O of some really good weed. Soak it in everclear for about a month and strain. Then, add it to a hunch punch concoction and soak for a few more days.

We did this for a bachelor party once. The punch was so green and sticky tasting...everyone was drinking up. We had thrown in about 20 apples, a bunch of grapes, and sliced oranges. Everyone there was tripping.
