Restocking Fees

Is it right for a company to charge a 3% restocking fee on any returned order once the credit card has been charged? I made an oder from computer-show.com and 5 minutes later called and cancelled the order, and they charged me a 3% fee.

Yes, you've wasted their server resources and customer service wages so you should pay some charge, though possibly not 3% if it was a huge order.

They had to pay money to Mastercard/Visa/ect to make that charge, and then possibly(don't know for certain) pay another fee to withdraw that charge. They are just recouping their fees.

Hey, you should feel lucky, according to their FAQ, they charge 15% for cancelled orders, so they could've charged you more than 3%.

I was gonna say 3% is kina low, 15% is the norm as far as I can tell.
