At a restaurant I go to, they give you free ice tea, but you have to pay for soda. the tea is from ice tea mix.

So does anyone know how much restaurants pay for ice tea vs soda?

EDIT:
so it may be brewed, and not from mix.

Iced Tea is brewed, then poured over ice and at the place I used to work, it cost less than 5 cents a glass, I don't know much about soda costs though.

I would think that the soda machines and maintenance would outweigh any cost a pitcher and spoon would be. Ice Tea mix would be less than name brand syrup and CO2 would still need to be purchased and added to cost for soda.
Iced Tea > Soda
Soda companies give good promotion.
Iced Tea is a beverage. Soda is a tool.

ahh..McDonalds is .11 for 16oz drink, including cup.

so ice tea is 1/2 the cost for the retaurant. but why not offer soda free also since it's only .06 more?

i guess some people must drink soda..yeah advertising

Because thats how they(most) make most of their money. Charging alot for sides and drinks that are dirt cheap, and having food near cost.
