Your friends should have started "sucking each other's tonsils out" 😀 That'll learn him. If he assaults them--LAWSUIT!

Your friends need to stand up to assholes like that. If they are scared to admit their relationship in front of the public, they will have a terrible time carrying on with it. They will be different people inside and outside the house.

so it's the 2 men who need to change their behavior and not the homophobe?

what is wrong with not wanting to cause a scene or be confrontational?

The homphobe needs to change but since we dont know who he is, we have to stick to the OP's friends 😛 Plus given the relation they are in, they have to adapt to the ignorant fvcks like the person in the restarant and give people some time to change.

I'd say it's safe to say the guy was a raging homophobe. If two people (gay or straight) want to hold hands in a restaurant, why should I care? I hold my wife's hand in public, but that's as far as it goes. I certainly don't go for the graphic PDAs like sucking her tonsils or something, though.

I'm sure we'll now hear a slew of "OMFG TEH FAGZORS MUST DIE!"-type comments in this thread, though since you mentioned gay people.

Why does it make him a homophobe? I'm not saying what he did was right or anything but I am tired of anyone who is against the idea of homosexuality being branded as AFRAID of homosexuals.

I would have told him to fvck off, if he didnt like it he could leave and go shove something up his nonfag arse, and then I'd have payed someone very big to kick HIS arse in front of his daughters to teach his daughters that being a homophobe and saying sh!t like this to people is rude.

 The ~phobe suffix does not only connote fear. But you knew that already, didn't you?

You have a better term, perhaps? Anti-Homo? Non-Homo? 100% Homo-Free? Close-Minded Nimrod?

Besides, in this case, I'm sure he was "afraid" that his dearly beloved child might turn into a slavering pink-wearing, Jetta-driving, rainbow-flashing, Zima-drinking fruit just from the sight of seeing two consenting adult males holding hands.

I think they are afraid of getting the crap beat out of them. Not ashamed, just scared. And they should be in some situations.

They are in a public place not in a KKK meeting. Unless they get surrounded by skinheads swinging chains, I can see no situation in which they should be scared. And I am not saying that they should go firing all cylinders on seeing assholes like that. They could have:

a) changed seats
b) told the man to fvck off nicely
c) Calmly talked about the special relation they have and if the man still was still acting up, goto point b) again.

In your opinion, which is more offensive: holding hands in public or screaming on the top of your vioce" OMG LOOK AT THESE FAGS!!1!!1!" I know which one I would say. Tell your friends to relax, they are not commiting a crime.

This is Texas we're talking about here though. The guy was clearly a homophobe asshat and I'm sure they would have liked to tell him to fvck the hell off but I think they did the right thing by trying not to escalate the situation.

Oh man, this takes me back. My friends and I used to (actually still do) play this game we called "Gay Couple". It was usually between two guys, with a third person (usually me) as sort of a gamepiece. The objective: make the other guy seem like he's the gamepiece's boyfriend. Some damn clever stuff came out of that too, and it's funny watching someone squirm when you berate the other guy for ruining the nice dinner the two of you were having. 😛

I can tell you, if some guy came up to us screaming his homophobic bile we'd just be more encouraged. At that point it would become a game of "Make That Throbbing Vein Pop."

Correct. Any time someone shows any sign of being a bigot, racist, sexist, etc... I pick away at it like a nice dirty scab.

They should have started kissing, or told him he was a hot stud and ask him to join in a hot 3 way that night
