Restaurant ideas for Milwaukee, WI

Wife and I are going to Milwaukee this weekend and we have a list of things we are going to do, but no idea where the good places are to eat. Any ideas?

Besides the brewery tour, zoo, and pabst mansion, is there another good tour or place we should go?

Check out a Brewers game -- not the greatest team but its a very nice stadium. And while you're over in that neighborhood go have some pizza at Balistreri's

Also if you are looking for something more elegant to treat yourselves to over on Milwaukee east side, I really recommend the Lake Park Bistro

Oh, and you are into art of course there is always the Milwaukee Art Museum which is right along the lake as well

Thanks! We might have to check out the Art Museum! We should have time on Friday or Saturday for that matter.

I take it that Balisteri's is just that good? Not very common for people to go to a pizza place while on vacation. Still, I am going to print that off. 🙂
The Lake Park Bistro I have read some reviews on, that may be an option.

Going to check out Maders as well.

Any other suggestions?

Maders is overrated... I never understood the praise for it. It's a fun experience because it is not the type of food you'd get everywhere, but the food itself is not that great.

If you are going to the art museum, there are a lot of decent places in that area. Coquette Cafe might be my favorite restaurant in wisconsin when you factor in price. It's the more reasonably priced restaurant by Sanford D'Amato who also has Sanford restaurant, one of the few super gourmet restaurants in wisconsin. The food is better than most $30 per plate places I've been to. The eggplant casserole is what I'd recommend.

I've never been to Milwaukee, but I'm heading there tomorrow to celebrate our anniversary (wife is already there on business). We have reservations at Mo's (http://www.mosaplaceforsteaks.com/). All the reviews I've read say that it's an awesome steakhouse, I'm looking forward to it. We're doing the Miller tour, but I've heard that the Lake House brewery tour is one of the best.

Edit: This weekend is also German Fest, so that might interest you if you like beer. They also have Dachshund racing at the fest 🙂.

Nice idea on the steak place. We are going to do both brewery tours. The Miller one and the Lake House one as well.

I will take the wife to see the Dachshund racing as well. She will get a kick out of that.

Mo's PFS is very good... as is German Fest!

To the OP you could read about some of the places to eat in Milwaukee here.
