My computer for some reason restarting every time i start any 3d game i left it running in windows all night and it never reset once but as soon as i run a 3d game of any sort it resets it also doesint reset in 3d accelerated games that are actually 2d, only in purely 3d games (such as Hl2 CSS, Freelancer etc.)

the computer actually through a fit awhile ago and i had to replace the mobo and cpu(and the cpu i put in is a bit sketchy cuz it was in a ruined system) i thought it might be the cpu but other then the odd occasion once yesterday when we first started up with the different CPU and MOBO it has only reset when i tried to play something 3d..... any ideas would be great.

3D games put much more stress on your system, than just running windows, or any 2D applications. Reboots, and crashes generally point to instability. I would run prime95, 3DMark, or any other stress tests to see how stable your system is. If you have your processor overclocked...you may need to clock it back to default. It could also be bad memory, or under volting either the processor/and or memory.

the vcore is running around 1.808, the CPU is an old 1000ghz duron which we even tried underclocking to fix the problem with no luck i know there is nothing wrong with the video card itself as we tried it in another system with no issues i also lowered the agp to 4x with no luck fast write off again no luck ill try prime95 right away, but i think its more then that cuz the game doesint run long enough for stress to accure its about 1 to 3 seconds of 3d before it restarts and even with older games such as freelancer.

Let me guess... you have windows xp and a nvidia graphics card.

Right click on My Computer and select properties. Then click the Advanced tab and click Startup and Recovery. Then uncheck the automatically reboot box.

Now when you start your game, it should give you the blue screen telling you the problem. If it just restarts without telling you the problem, well then... that could mean you're not getting enough power or something else.

Good luck.

may be power supply problem. the ps is designed to turn off when loads go above it's max output and thus your pc turns off? how many watts you have?

Actually im using an Radeon 9800 Pro (128) and as for the PSU its 350w Sparkle PSU, i could manually set it lower if u think i should its on auto right now the vcore i mean...

Edit: i set it to manual 1.75 and now its running around there ill see if it helps.

Double Edit: that didint help, but later i tried turning on AGP Performance Control, that stopped it from restarting it but now all the same games just crash and burn after a few moments.
