Restarting network connection

Hi,
Sometimes my cable connection just dies suddenly and I lose all connection. Restarting the cable modem, ipconfig /release /renew doesn't work. I have to reboot the computer to get it to work again. I'm just wondering if there's a faster way to restart the connection(reload the LAN drivers maybe?) so I won't have to reboot.

Thanks!

Have you tried just doing a "Repair"? Takes about 15 seconds or less and no reboot.

Oh, when the disconnection happens, I get no network connection icon. It's business as usual in the system tray(unless I unplug the cable modem or something).

It's annoying isn't it. You can go to Start->Settings->Network Connections and you should be able to see your connection and enable it.
Repair does not work all the time requiring a disabled and enable of the network card. What sucks is that the icon disappears one you do it so you need to go through the start menu.
