Restart computer, then internet is down?

Friend is having a weird issue with his computer. If he reboots his computer he looses his internet connection. Gets it back by unplugging and restarting the modem while the computer is off. This happens every time he reboots.

Last thing he said he did before this started happening was run spy sweeper and maybe anti virus and search and destroy.

NIC problem? Software problem?

Thanks you for providing a little more info (I hope that you do not have to pay for providing info). 😉

In any case since there is a Modem Router etc.

The statement Internet is lost is meaningless.

1. What is the status of the Router?s WAN port after the Internet lose.

2. Can the computer connect locally to the Router's configuration menus when the connection is Lost.

3. What happens with the PS3 when the connection is lost?

To give you a hint, I am trying to find if it is the Internet connection that lost, or the Router's fault, or the computer fault.

If all of the above is too much for your friend, seeking professional help would be more fruitful.

Problem was solved with link you posted! ATF cleaner removed over a gig of crap. But the 'winsock fix' is what fixed it.

Thanks!
