My fathers long time girlfriend (around 10 years) passed away yesterday.
She has 2 grown sons, and has been with my father for a long long time.

She was his light. She kept him sane. She was a great and caring person who gave her heart to the world.

Now she's gone.

I got the call last night and was quite shaken by it. My dad and her sons are obviously feeling it a lot worse. I talked with my dad on the phone for over an hour yesterday. I think it's the longest conversation we've ever had.

Life is short. Life is good.
To all the crowd here, don't procrastinate your trips to the doctor. It's just not worth it no matter how small the risk may seem.

=[

i got the call from my dad saying he saw a dr. appt for my mother on the counter. she didn't even mention it to him. she was having a CT done to check into some lumps around her stomach.

i've been freaking out for the last week but got the news last week it wasn't anything too serious.

my parents are mid 50s and i'm scared to death of losing them.

Sorry bud. I hope it wasn't a sudden thing, but either way, my thoughts are with your family.

I'm sorry about your loss.

How old was she? What happened?

She was only 59.
She had been feeling sick with fever. She thought that she was feeling better and didn't think she needed to go to the doctor/hospital. She went to sleep.

The next morning, she didn't wake up :(

My dad has type 2 diabetes and has been dealing with it for 20ish years.
Pam was never diagnosed as being diabetic.
But, according to my father, they say she had gone into a diabetic coma :(

I'm glad your mom's OK! My aunt in the last 12 months has had to deal with breast cancer and it was no fun at all. She thankfully was valiantly victorious after double mastectomy and chemo. But holy cow that was a rough road.

I'm sorry for you man. Anytime you lose someone like that, even if they aren't your birthparent, that is a big loss. I hope you can find some way to take your mind off of it.

Between browsing the forums and being swamped at work, and friends at work distracting me, I have plenty to keep my mind off of it. I mostly am just worried about my dad. He's just had such shitty luck. 2 bad marriages, then finally 1 good relationship for him that gets cut short :( The poor guy

That's terrible... At least she went peacefully. :(
