Resolved "Unable to connect to proxy server" error message

I suddenly started getting the error message : "Unable to connect to the proxy server". I only get this on my laptop but not my desktop computer which are both connected to a router. With the laptop I can get Yahoo, Facebook, and Outlook email. But I am not able to connect to a website linked on either websites or Outlook.

I have rebooted my router. This did not fix the problem I searched proxy server on the Control Panel and it brought a window that said I was already connected to the internet.

I scanned my hard drive with an anti-virus program before all this started happening. I do not know if that had anything to do with the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Which browser are you using? Check your browser settings and see if perhaps a proxy server was populated by Malware or something like that.

It has affected both Chrome and Internet Explorer. When I posted this thread I could log on to both Chrome and IE but not access any websites linked. But now I can not log on to Chrome.

Fixed it ... so far.

Sohow my browser LAN setting "Use a proxy server as LAN" got checked. I disabled this option and everything seems to be working properly.
