I just got this sound card and just reformatted my entire system but thats a totally different story ( my friend jacked up my comp ) and everything is loaded and running seemingly fine but i tried to install the drivers for my TBSC and i get a blue screen and an error pertaining to this file - tbcspud.sys - every time i try and install them. I have tried using the drivers on the CD that came with the sound card and also the latest ones off the website, but both give me the same error.

Anyone know how to fix this?

TIA

I had a similar problem last year with my Win2K machine; I'm trying to remember how I got around the problem.

If my memory serves me correctly, I did a search for all copies of the .sys file and noted their locations. I booted into Safe Mode, deleted the corrupted files, booted into Windows, reinstalled the drivers.

I never could pinpoint the exact cause of the file corruption(happened more than once) but I suspected it was related to my use of a Cybex SwitchView KVM switch. Occasionally my Win2K would lockup forcing me into a hard shutdown of the machine, it seemed it was always while using the mouse. Upon the next startup I might encounter the STOP error.

At the time I was using the "bottom-of-line" MS Wheel Mouse, the KVM documentation recommended using nothing less than Intellimouse. Once I switched to Intellimouse the issue seemed to go away.

What mobo are you using?
Does your mobo have integrated on-board sound?
What OS are you using?

What operating system are you using? I have a SC also. I am running Win98SE and don't even have that file on my system. I am upgrading to XP this week, well reformating and installing XP. If I run into the file then maybe I can help more.

You mention you've already reformatted multiple times, so I guess you are not opposed to doing it again if necessary.

Have you tried doing the setup of your machine without the NIC and the DVD drive connected?
Have you tried the sound card in a different slot?
Are you using the latest drivers available for your mobo?
Do you know anyone locally that uses a TBSC who may try the card in their machine?
Have you searched the Abit web site or Abit Forums?
