RESOLVED: shell extension for opening rtf files?

windows was opening rtf files with word and i prefer wordpad for that format so i tried to change it so that windows opens with wordpad by default but i messed up the 'DDE Message' and other DDE fields and i cant fill them back in now... basically ive changed it back and forth from word to wordpad but its just screwed, wordpad cant open anything in my documents now it just says "cant open E:\My"

can anyone help me plz? i just want to get it all back to normal so that wordpad can open stuff again... oh and if i just go file open it works so its just in the 'open with wordpad' shortcut i think

thx

UPDATE: under the open field in file types i have:
"C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe" %1

i have no DDE turned on. i tried imitating words settings:

"C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe" /n /dde

and even turned on DDE:

DDE Message:[REM _DDE_Direct][FileOpen("%1")]

and now it says cant open "(full path)" and it just opens word pad empty and if i open the file manually wordpad ends... help!

hey sorry i jumped the gun a little on asking for help... found this link:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=149815

my situation fits into the "See More" at the bottom of the page exactly

apparently the %1 has to be in quotation marks so that was it all along, nothing to do with DDE at all.

peace
