RESOLVED....RPC Server is unavalable, error 1055

When I try to open disk management it says RPC Server is unavalable, unable to connect to logical disk manager service.
When I try to access any service I get
service data base is locked error 1055.

I agree went there first,spent so much time my head was spinning. I tried the two links you provided,Thanks,but it was the same as what I found on google,everything points to a server which is where I start getting confused. All I tried to do was open Disk managment to change the letters on my DVD-ROM and that is where the errors start. How does a server tie in with this?

Look in services and see if Logical disk manager service is started and set to automatic?

The problem was I couldn't get any of the services to start it would always come back with something like" database is locked". I finally managed to get them going and I don't know how and then like you said start turning on services,rebooted and it worked. Thanks to all for your help, B.Chivers
