Just moved from one apartment to another. In the new place, my router will NOT connect to Comcast. The EXACT same Modem/Router combination at my old place. (Both LInksys, I own them.)

Directly through the modem, works just fine. When I connect my router, it will not obtain an IP.

I have:
Power cycled the router
Did DHCP Renew in router status
Reset to factory defaults
Cloned the MAC from the cable modem

WTF?!?! I know I'm missing something here. What is it?!?!?

Router: WRT54G
Modem: BEFCMU10

Windows XP

Thank you in advance!

Keyser, you need to call Comcast/Time Warner and make sure they have your MAC address correct. I had the same problem as you. Let me know if this worked!

Well, I can connect just fine when I connect directly to the modem. And so I cloned my MAC to my router, so that the router has the same exact MAC address. So, I don't think the problem is an incorrect MAC. It's all in the router, here on my end.

Also, the Internet light on my router starts blinking intermittently. So, it's doing something.

The MAC address that has to be cloned to the Router is Not the Modem's one. but the one of the computer that works directly with the modem.

Jack....I Love you.

Thank you. That fixed it. Just hit "Clone your PC's MAC" in my router page, and it worked right away. Why I didn't even click that once to try it...I have no idea.

Thanks again.
