This is weird, I have this Linksys router I am using in a completely basic setup - DHCP turned off, all machines connected via ethernet cables (wireless disabled). The router connected to a Comcast cable residential modem.

The internet works great until anyone in the house connects to some kind of media download.
WMV, WMA, Quicktime - format does not matter.

We can all download files just fine, 300+ meg demos come right in.

When it happens I cycle power to the router & the internet is restored.
WTH is up with this thing? What should I look at, where do I start?

Well some nice folks over in the DC forum had some suggestions & this problem is resolved.

I went into the media player controls and turned off things like authentication, updates, download additional information, etc and in the network area left only HTTP & Multicast turned on.

After this everything works fine - no more internet loss due to connections to streaming media!

Now if I could get it to stay up with the wireless turned on - the fastest way to kill this thing is turning on any wireless encryption.
