I have been unable to find any specific reference as to whether the GA-5AX can handle registered SDRAM memory. I am aware that it can use ECC as that is what is in use now. Also aware that it can use PC100 and/or PC133 with a recent BIOS update-and that it can't use high-density (single sided) 256MB modules. I'm guessing that since it isn't mentioned anywhere in the online spec sheet or the manual, that registered is verboten ( and, as more circumstantial evidence, the Crucial configurator lists every SDRAM module up to 256MB that they make as compatible w/ the 5ax except for registered - I suppose that since Crucial makes registered SDRAM modules, they would be listed if they were compatible).
. But I thought I'd check and see if anyone here knew for sure. Please furnish a ref. if possible as this is for resolving an online auction gone sour. Thanks.

Challenging :D I was looking for Gigabyte or ALi to come right out and say "unbuffered ONLY" somewhere, which would rule out Registered modules. Try a Google search for M1541 ali unbuffered 5ax and see if that's enough evidence for your person.
