Heh, A word to the wise out there, don't try and dig deeper into the problem when you realize you had forgetten to try "Restore system to last known good configuration." Have a good night Anandtech.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I'm working on my buddy's computer, but am stumped. His (Laptop) gets to the login screen where his login icon pops up and then it restarts. Hence, I can't get into windows at all.
I ran the system recovery console with the following commands
chkdsk /r - It found errors but didn't seem to correct them.
Fixboot - Said it completed, restarted and same problem.
Fixmbr - Said it completed, restarted and same problem.
Just tried Safe Mode, wouldn't start either. In both cases it seems to hang on the "Windows is starting up" screen for a bit too long, although it's not my computer, so I don't really have a "feel" for whether it is actually long or not.
Any ideas on how I can fix.
Oh, also, he doesn't know his cd-key, and I am able to do it if I am in windows, but I'm at a loss finding it from the recovery console.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
