Hi All, I have a new build p.c. The problem im having is that installing windows is taking like 5 or 6 hours. I tryed taking the new ram out and replacing with my older systems 256mg ram which i know was working, problem still exist!

Maxtor 250gb 7200 16mg Cache
DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra sli
X800xl iceq2 Excalibur
 
Well i have sussed that my brand new dvdrom was the culprit having a dodgy dvd rom would that make my system run mega slow after i installed it with it?
 
Yeah, if you have another drive I would try to install off of that. I had issues before using a cheap optical drive to install Windows.

Are you doing a full format or quick format (if any) when installing? Have you updated your motherboard's BIOS?
