Original Post:
The MSI FAQ for this m/b identifies an option in the BIOS for enabling/disabling the m/b's FireWire port. I'm running the latest BIOS (7.4) and that option is NOT presented: Integrated_Peripherals -> Onboard_Device -> OnChip_1394 [FireWire] isn't there (but the other options are).
'Guess I can look for an earlier BIOS (than 7.4), but I'd like to hear fron others using FireWire on this board: what BIOS release works, or what the fix is?
Note: I do have a FireWire port on my Audigy board, but it seems to be dropping frames from a Sony DigiCam I've borrowed. I'd like to get a better image load so I'll try the m/b port if I can.
Thanks!
Update:
By trying all BIOS's 7.1 -> 7.4, I found only 7.1 displayed the OnChip1394 option once the 1394 (FireWire) had been dis-abled.
Using 7.1, I re-enabled FireWire: re-checking 7.2 and 7.4 showed the option-line is present when FireWire is enabled.
The BIOS needs repair, as the above makes dis-abling FireWire a one-way venture [until one re-loads an olde BIOS].
I've informed MSI of this.
