I also agree with GLeeM. Even as a Mod in the DC Forum, I sometimes forget just how many posts you senior mods have to deal with, and how easy it is to get so focused on the task at hand. Thanks for all you and the other "Real" Mods do to keep order at Anandtech! :thumbsup:

Gang, there is/was no concerted effort to modify the feel of the DC forums. I ran across the original post looking at new posts and moving a few items to the correct category. I screwed up locking that post and a quick PM from the OP or another DC member would have fixed the issue.

The issue spiraled after the OP continued to post in DC after being told not to, and then started sending me a series of bizarre PM's. I've posted the PM's for the other moderators to review. I wound up having to block PM's from the OP, so I haven't received anything since.

I'll unlock the original post and unblock the OP, given its been almost a day his frame of mind might be different that it was last night and hopefully we can come to a better resolution regarding his vacation.

This kind of stuff is what makes AT better than ALL other forums on the net.

The mods are quick to act when they think something isn't in order but are humble enough to admit when they are in the wrong. And then to actually explain their side of the story??? That is unheard of.

bsobel and I have had our differences of opinion in the past and he has always been great about explaining what's going on rather than just being high and mighty and telling me to piss off.

Glad to see an open discussion with people focusing on the solution to a problem. Its really great to see this kind of thing.

What's a mod call out?, telling them it's not their business?

Mod call outs are basically any time you question a mods judgement, tell them to go to hell,, telling them ist NOT their business (it sure it) etc... Disrespect might be a good general term.

This forum is the place to "question" something, but WITH respect.

Any senior mods feel free to correct me.

As Senior Mods, (as being appointed to the position), it is our business to ensure that the forums run a smoothly as possible.

We have certain guidelines that we attempt to follow. When items cross our radar, we react. Some of us are more acquainted with certain forums than others, but we all chip in when needed or when a problem surfaces.

In this case, it was initially a false reading.

However, given the quality of this place, the membership should first give the Moderator(s) the benefit of doubt unless the situation is able to be cleaned up.

In each forum, there are assigned Moderators, they have access to the Senior level moderators and we do listen to them. They all have a feel of each of their forums' pulse and can provide advice and/or insight on some issues.

That is what happened in this case.
