Resolution is set at 1600x1200, but i have a LCD now and no CRT

does the screen look crappy but readable in regular mode? Context-click on an empty part of your desktop, and go to properties. Settings tab.

haha..no, its compeltly crapped out...no possibility for reading thru the mess on the screen

yeah, safe-mode it to 800x600 and change it back to your LCDs native res in regular mode.
