Resolution changes effect screen size question

My question is, how can I run games at a different resolution than my native desktop resolution, and still maintain the full usage of my monitor without having to resize my it with the buttons on the front? I have tried changing the default refresh with limited success, but this doesnt seem to work with all resolutions. I have the proper updated monitor driver in windows and have all refresh rates set at 75hz in both my video drivers and games (when the option is given).

Is their any solution?

The better CRT monitors "remember" your size and geometry adjustments separately for different screen resolutions (800x600, 1024x768, etc) are you saying yours does not? If so, you're probably out of luck.

Absolutely. The vast majority of monitors out there are digital which means they remember their settings for every kind of input you give them. Just adjust your games once and then you never have to worry about it until you either change the game's resolution and/or refresh rate.
