resizing partition, data loss ??

Unless you do it with partition magic or similar, I don't think you can. There is still no guarantee though. I would back up anything important.

I've used Partition Magic a couple of times to resize partitions. Went without a hitch every time. Its pretty reliable.

P Magic is usually safe, but not 100%. People have posted in Software a time or two asking for help after it locked up in mid-operation and I've had it freeze a couple of times trying to create new partitions.

So backup, or don't come crying to us if you lose all your "stuff" 🙂

If you have FAT partition you can use "partition resizer" its a freeware program that I have used in the past.

It works in dos and the inetrface is like is pretty intuitive (drag a slider )

Basically you create a boot disk--copy the program on it --boot using the boot disk and at the prompt type "presizer.exe"

of course there is partition magic which has a good windows interface and works with NTFS but not free

good luck

and back up first

Yes. But then, data corruption is possible when not resizing your partitions too. Before you do anything to modify partitions, always backup important data. Of course, you should do that regardless.
