Resizing laptop partition with Acronis software in Vista?

I'm trying to resize and create another drive on my laptop. I want it partitioned so my OS is on 1 partition and my data is on another.

I figured I'd use acronis's disk manager suite to do this since everyone gives it rave reviews.

However, is this compatible with Vista? And when I format the new partition do I format it with NTFS?

I just want to make sure before I take the plunge.

A Microsoft technical rep told me that you need to get updated, Vista-compatible, versions of third-party disk management tools. The "old" ones won't work.

I used the newest version of the acronis software and I had alot of trouble...it somehow corrupted my xp partition and i ended up having to reinstall. I'd just double check that it is compatible for what you're trying to do.

Same here; resizing with Acronis bricked my install.
