Is there a way to resize a bunch of images, all the same size in one step instead of doing one image at a time and saving them one at a time?

absolutely... its called running a batch. you have to setup an action that resizes the image and then run that action as a batch on the files.

In my experience, XP image resizer totally butchers the image quality and introduces a lot of artifacting. I simply created a batch process in Photoshop.
