I saw that earlier today. While I don't doubt that Resistance will look good, all these screenshots look 'enhanced' or 'touched up'.

I think the term is bullshot.

I agree, but that happens with every pretty game - Halo series, UT series, all the way back to the Command and Conquer series (the first screenshot of Red Alert I ever saw looked totally awesome, naturally it looked nothing like the actual game). I don't expect the Resistance series to be any different - but if these are the graphics you can see in-game, holy damn!

honestly i don't give a crap about screenshots anymore.

the only ones that i'll remotely care about is if they are from actual gameplay and where you can actually tell, but even those can be touched up somewhat or simple mockups. i just do not trust any screenshots anymore, or when they give you shots from stupid ass angles you will never see.

the same goes for videos, i really only care about actual gameplay videos.

i donno..i've been quite impressed with the graphics of UT3 (which is a cross-platform engine, so that makes the game even more amazing), and Uncharted. Uncharted is very amazing, and it makes me wonder what devs can do with the PS3 further down the road.

Looks good, but then again I thought Lindsay Lohan looked good when I saw her magazine pictures online.... but I know better now.

I have to agree with you Dan, the PS3 is a nice machine... now I need software to entice me :(

There are F86 Sabers but the Chimera are getting out of a C17. The weird alternate history intermingling of, and unbalanced technology, from the first game strikes again, where they had V-22 Ospreys in 1951. Perhaps the F86s are just a homage to the old Godzilla flicks that they made so many appearances in.

I loved the first game. It played like a cross between Call of Duty and Halo. A nice mix of interesting weapons. Co-op was great. Very impressive for Insomniac's first foray into the FPS genre. R&C Future was awesome too. In short, Insomniac are awesome and one of my favorites devs for ANY platform. Resistance 2 WILL deliver.

Actually, I think the only way those shots were enhanced, was with AA. Honestly. The textures are still notably far from being the super crisp that they tend to be on 360 (honestly, I tend to think they are usually overly crisp when it comes to distance, but the PS3 could use sharper textures at times), however, the engine should be quite capable of pulling of those visuals and details. Why? Look at Resistance. That was the first engine they produced for the PS3. Then look at Ratchet and Clank. They took the engine from Resistance, and tweaked it, improved it, then made the game have a more cartooney feel, even though it still looked impressive. Changing the textures and colors, and adding more real-life elements, such as grass and bushes and whatnot, are all that really needs to be done. They have already stated a few times that the engine has improved since it's reiteration in R&C, so why not?

I'd say AA was definitely applied, but that's normal for screenshots these days. But in motion, it usually looks smooth anyhow.
