all i can say is wow

Subject: Sorry everyone

I'm leaving the bank now.

I'm not made to do this. If I put my mind to something as much as I do here to mindless text editing, copy and pasting, and getting yelled at for stuff other people can't/won't/don't do, I would be much better off. It's 6:43 a.m. on a Sunday, and I have at least 14 more hours of work to do today that will not be fulfilling, useful, appreciated, recognized, or paid for.

Sorry this is last minute, but it's just not worth doing more

My blackberry is on my desk

Apparently that failed staffing request was fatal (no, not as in I'm going to kill myself, hehe, I'm just going to go enjoy life). There is no happiness here.

I took all my personal stuff. No one needs to contact me for anything (except for a drink for those of you with my personal number). I will only be at my New York address a few days longer.

Good luck y'all,
DUDE WHO QUIT
SOME BANK
INDUSTRY GROUP
ADDRESS
New York, NY XXXXX

P.S. I'll be waiting for some smart-ass associate to send a "best-practice e-mail for how to quit properly". Thank you A B, and C for your previous e-mails. I will be sure to keep your tips in mind.

Nicely done. You were a recipient of this email?

Obligatory smartass comment: It took him 20 minutes to write that email? No wonder he's working Sundays to catch up.

no i was not a recipient. i work at the bank next to his o_O. but the thing about emails like this is that once it's sent, then everyone at every bank pretty much sees it because it spreads like wildfire.

This is probably the worst quitting email I have ever seen. Why did you bother posting it? It's not witty, funny, or even a good rant. What position did this guy hold? Office administrator?

well, you guys have to understand, this guy's probably been in office since 10am saturday morning. he's writing an email to quit after working for almost 24 hours straight. i think spending 20 minutes on it is fine.

and with that said, i understand his position because the job gets that rough sometimes. it has nothing to do with him being incompetent.

i thought it was funny. just a dude (who quit) telling it like it is.

I am not trying to be difficult for the sake of it. What was he "telling" [about]? That he works long hours? That he does mindless work for people who don't appreciate it? Whoopee. It would have been funnier and more damning if he named names or actually said the VP was worthless. But instead he's passive aggressive about it.

well it's because he wanted to get the message across without burning all the bridges. if you start naming names, you run the risk of people who are with you turn against you.

How many people send out emails explaining why they are quitting tell the truth as to why they are quitting? How often does that happen? I've never seen it happen. thats what makes it funny to me.

with some people yes. but there are no doubt some people who really liked him. when i quit, there was one senior banker who really liked me, told me he would be willing to write me any recommendation i want... although that's probably because he didnt know i was going to another bank!

Did you quit by sending an e-mail to everyone in the office with the reason why you quit?
