Residential teeth people: Wisdom teeth...

TridenT

Lifer
So, I am looking at getting four of my wisdom teeth extracted. They're coming in and my mouth can't fit them. It's starting to cause issues with movement of the other teeth. (As in, it's screwing up a lot of work)

So, how much would it cost, without insurance, to get 4 wisdom teeth extracted?

call an oral surgeon's office in your area and ask. that is where you'll likely be referred to for the extractions.

barter.

i traded my computer services for dental services and we both came out winners.

he got his computers and network fixed, i got some expensive work to three teeth done.

now i go in for a cleaning and checkup every 6 months and after, i check up on the computers.

Got a university with a dental school nearby? Sometimes they have special deals where the dental students will work for free.

No guarantee on quality or lack of pain on the job though.

Uh... I have a prestigious dental school just down the street, but they charge the same (if not more) than places around town.

I just had mine done. Two "bony" impacted and two "soft tissue" impacted. All four, plus half an hour of analgesic.

$1520ish.

They only take certain clients to do student dentistry. Even then, it's not heavily discounted.

"What will my treatment cost? Our fees are generally lower than those of a private dentist. We offer these lower fees in recognition of the extra time needed to be treated by a dental student. "

Still sounds cheaper.

Are your wisdom teeth impacted, semi-impacted or erupting normally (straight) but just not erupting all the way due to lack of room?

Not a clue. It's a bit hard to take pictures of that far back too. All I have been told my entire life though is, "your mouth is too small and you're gonna need them babies gone when they come." My last time I got an exam(maybe a couple years ago) the guy said, "When those wisdom teeth come in, around 21, you'll need them gone." I'm almost 21. I feel some tooth related pain sometimes and they're starting to push my teeth around. I'm going to need them gone.

Updated the post. And, they're pretty much all the way in... I mean, they're in there. I can see them. I can feel them. They're about the same level as my other teeth. The top ones are a bit crooked. The bottom ones fit ok-ish... but they're definitely not perfect.

if top and bottom meet and you can chew with them and you can get back there to clean them then you don't need them extracted.

Maybe none came in and somehow I'm only getting my 2nd molars now it seems? IDK. I swear that months ago I had teeth that were barely coming in that are now in there.

I really don't pay enough attention to those teeth that far back.

I need to just get an exam and a cleaning...
