Meh.

I hate to be THAT guy, but the RE series is dead to me. And that's tough to say considering I was put on a waiting list to rent the first game when my PSX was new. At least as the "Resident Evil" survival horror games. Now, it looks to be "Gears of Evil".

The tension, atmosphere, limited ammo/health, and real feeling of being in a survival situation have been gone since 4, and seeing video of John Woo double pistol wielding, Batman-like roundhouse kicks to groups of Zombies, and Gears of War style dynamic cover taking makes it pretty clear its going to be an action game with some "scary" horror elements.

I'm sure it could be a very good game, but I wish it didn't have the RE name attached to it.

It just better have co-op mode. I thought RE5 was freakin' awesome, but that was mainly because of the great co-op mode.

On Joystiq, an article on this game, one of the Capcom big wigs said he wants Call of Duty players to play this game so it's definitely going to be more action oriented, all their future RE games will be.

This.

The original and RE2 scared the living shit out of me when they came out.

i havent been a fan of the RE series since RE4 came out (did not like RE4), but this trailer looks pretty freaking sweet. they should just remove the RE name from the title though. this looks like gears of war meets RE.

Agreed. I like RE4 but for entirely different reasons than the earlier RE games. It'd be fine if it was its own series but it'll always be connected and compared to RE now.

That said I didn't like RE5 at all.

Leon looks gritty. I guess he's going to be a bald space marine by the time RE7 shows up.

Maybe we can move and shoot in this one.

RE5 was a lot of fun, it's a different game than the early RE's but still enjoyable.

I'm a huge fan of the Resident Evil series and i'm siked to see this. RE5 was different, but was also a great game. I think if they stayed with the horror genre, nothing would of changed and it would be a just dead franchise.

Why not? Look at Deadspace. If they set the atmosphere and story right, an action oriented Survival Horror can still be scary and fun to play. Deadspace is really the new RE, imo.

doesn't matter one way or another because it's clearly not dead-space like game play.

Nice, cant wait. Didnt really like RE5 except mercenaries was pretty fun, which saved it for me. Hope they focus more on single player on this one like RE2 and 4.

While I played 5 to death for the achievements I honestly didn't care for 4/5. It's become nothing more than a linear on rails run and gun shooter. You never got to enjoy the ambiance or explore or back track in 5, you were too busy running and passing checkpoints all the time.

Nothing comes close to the original, Code Veronica, and Resident Evil Zero on GC in terms of suspense and survival.
