ok, I started drinking after not drinking for 2 years into college. Now I drink on almost every weekend and saturday night i blacked out for the first time. I seem to not be able to think straight today (monday). never happened to me before. maybe I should stop drinking/drinking so much.

Drink to enjoy yourself... what's enjoyable about blacking out? Or the hangover which follows drinking that much?

umm, if that is the definition of an alcoholic, I should have been in AA a long time ago.

As long as your not driving anywhere and drinking isn't affecting your grades too much, drink away.

That does not = alcoholic.

That is hardly alcoholic.

You're just having fun on weekends with friends...

When u start to drink by yourself daily into oblivion = alcoholic

it still isn't HEALTHY for your body.. Every time you 'blackout' your body is simply shutting down to prevent some serious damage....

blacking out does suck

one night i went out partying with a bunch of friends and my wife (who as my GF at the time) and don't remember anything past 10:00pm

i woke up in a strange bed in a strange house... looked around, made sure the person in bed with me was my GF, and got up to find someone i recognized... those are fun weekends!

I'm an alcoholic...at least for the next 3 weeks...then I graduate then I have to start work at my Job 🙁 and its all the real-world from then on...so I'm gettin drunk probably 3-5 days a week right now 🙂

You are not an alcoholic.

stop drinking so hard.

it's much more fun to spread out the drinks over a longer period of time so that you have a fun evening of drunken fun rather than half an hour of drunken stupor followed by a blackout.

Let the record show that I disagree

I wholeheartedly disagree. Piecing together the night again with some stories from friends is the best part of blacking out.

A drunk drinks for pleasure.
An alcoholic drinks because they "need" to.

If you drink because you feel as though you "need" the liquor in your system to make it through the day, you are an alcoholic. If you are drinking because it's fun to be stupid, then you are just a drunk.

Cheers!

Exactly.

THE CAGE questions used for screening by medical professionals:
Ever felt the need to Cut back?
Ever felt Annoyed by others comments about how much you drink?
Ever felt Guilty about drinking?
Ever felt the need for a morning Eye-opener?

If you're answering yes to any of those you MIGHT have a problem...
