Resetting Owner Permissions on Users' Home Folders

I have a home server with 1000+ users on it with their home folders. We also have folder size restrictions in place so each user can only store 1 GB of files in their folder.

However, we've ran across some of their folders where the Owner is the Administrators group and thus not counted against their quota.

Is there anyway to mass reset the owner on all of the files to the home folders owner?

Sure, use the security dialog under advanced in the properties of the top level folder. Make sure to check on "Replace permission entries on all child objects with entries shown here that apply to child objects". Then adjust the security to what you want it to be.

Right, but I have over 1000 users, which means a 1000 folders... I don't want to have to do that for every single folder I have. I'm looking for an automated process.

That will do it all automaticly. Just as long as you do it on the top most directory, everything below it will be changed.

No, if he has 1000 users he would have to do it 1000 times using the method I outlined. Can't think of a quick solution at the moment though.

It should be possible to remove the Administrators enmasse without touching the rest of the security settings from the top level.
