Resetting Computer's preferences

Hey all,

I run a small computer lab at a university. We are running all Mac Pro's, all updated to the latest OSX. We've had some issues with students (and professors/ staff, who have to have admin access) changing preferences/ folders/ scratch disks etc. and thus creating havoc when classes come in expecting things to work one way and finding systems not at stock settings.

I am looking for software that resets all preferences/ settings, program specific and system wide, to set defaults once the computer is logged off or rebooted.

What do you suggest I look into?

There is a way to do that with Guest accounts, any changes that account makes get wiped out upon log out.

But, what are they changing that is affecting other accounts?
