resetting CMOS problem

wpshooter

Golden Member
I was having some problems with the BIOS wanting to go back to the defaults any time I reset a parameter, so I attempted to reset the CMOS via the motherboard jumper (followed the manuals directions) and now I can NOT get to boot.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks.

Are you sure the cmos jumper is back in it's original position? If so, try removing the board battery. That will reset the bios for sure.

Is it possible for the CMOS to loose it's default programming/flash parameters. The reason I ask is because when I first assembled this system which has been about two years ago now, I think I had a defective power supply because it poped when I first tried to start the machine. I did get it to start after replacing the power supply. It has been running great since. But now I am switching over to DSL and I had a lot of stuff on it that I wanted to get rid of, so I thought I would get a clean start.

Is it possible that when I had that problem with the original power supply that it partially damaged the CMOS chip ??

Thanks.

I removed & reinserted the battery.

Still no boot. No video, no beeps of any kind.

Does this mean my CMOS is lost ?

Thanks.
