Question Reset linksys e2500 router - now can’t find network

I hard reset my my router and I can’t find the network on my MacBook.

Do I need to connect to the router with a Ethernet cable?

Yes, connect up to it with an ethernet cable to set up. Plug it into a LAN port on the back.

In your web browser, navigate to http://192.168.0.1/ or 1.1

Log in with default username/password (may be "admin"/"admin").

don't forget to re-setup your wifi SSID and password security.

Thanks. My Mac doesn’t have a Ethernet port. Do I need to buy a usb to Ethernet adapter?

There may be. I assumed (falsely) that if you were asking about ethernet, that you had one handy.

Can you see an open SSID of Linksys or Cisco? Maybe some hexidecimal strings trailing.

Alternatively, if this was newer production, and comes pre-configured for encryption, is there a sticker on the bottom with the default SSID, wireless password, and admin router password?

If the router didn't come pre-encrypted, it's your responsibility to now log into the router's admin pages, using the admin password, and do two things:
1) Change the admin password, and
2) Create/change the wireless SSID (the name that you see) to something unique, and set your own password and encryption.
