All,

I am running Win2k SP2 and IE6 with all updates. I had netscape 6 installed as my non default browser. My wife ran Netscape 6 and set it to my default browser and now I can't get IE6 to be reset as my default browser. I have uninstalled Netscape 6 and have also set the little checkbox under the Tools->Internet Options->Programs tab to make IE check if it is the default browser but it never performs a check. I have hacked at my registry to get most of the IE default browser functionality back. However when I click an http link in Outlook, it opens two instances of IE to the selected link. Also, when I create an internet shortcut on my desktop, it associates it with my now non existent installation of Netscape 6. I have looked for 'Internet Shortcut' under the file types tab to try and point it to IE but that file type doesn't exist in the list.

I have uninstalled IE6, going back to IE 5.5.X that is installed by SP2. I then reinstalled IE6 but still have these problems. Does anyone know how to easily wipe out the reg settings for all web related file associations and reset them to use IE6?

Thanks,
