reset cmos in VAIO

I spilled coffee on my Vaio. It shut down; I had pulled the power and battery, but it won't restart (I'm pretty sure the coffee is dried out, and after disassembling it, I didn't see any coffee stains under the keyboard).

I read in a post that unplugging the CMOS battery could reset things. I'm assuming the way to unplug the battery is to pull the connector wire from the white/beige looking connector post on the motherboard, but it's so small it is hard to grab, and it doens't seem to come out (I don't want to force it). Is this the way to do it? Should I use tweezers, or should I be doing something else here. Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

Yea, I think that your laptop is pretty well fried.

However, you can try using a precision screwdriver kit to jimmy the connector, however as you said, you don't want to force it. Vaios have a tendency to have this stuck connector issue, I have seen it on every one I have worked on.

Thanks. I wasn't sure what was going on with that connector. It's good to know it's Sony's design--also nice they make it so difficult.

Could it be just the keyboard that is shot, or the total laptop. No lights go on when it is plugged in.

The coffee likly caused a short that killed the main board. If the KB was the only issue the unit would still boot you just wouldn't have a fuctioning KB.
