Reset button - weird/slow reset with Gigabyte P55

I'm used to reset happening instantly, but with this MB is like this:
1. press reset button
2. pause of 1-2 seconds
3. sustained beep (~1 sec)
4. power down
5. power up

I thought the wires were wrong, so I checked and as suspected, the + and - for the reset button were wrong. But after I changed that, it was still the same. So now the wires are correctly connected, but it still happens.

Do the "+" and "-" even matter for the reset button?

Did I damage something when I had it connected the wrong way initially?

Is it normal? What could be wrong?

EDIT: I later found out that this slow reset only happens when the CPU is overclocked. If the CPU is at stock settings it resets normally.
